A Week Worth of Petite Work Wear

As I begin a new journey in a new career I have needed to update my work wear. My former position in education allowed me to wear very casual clothing. While I could've gotten away with wearing jeans daily, I have always felt more confident when dressed a little more professionally. As I will be meeting with clients and conducting meetings, I wanted to add a few more dress pants, blouses and heels to my closet to help make this transition. As a petite, work wear can be tricky. I find a lot of petite clothing to look a bit matronly and that is not the vibe I was aiming for! I have found great pieces at Loft, Ann Taylor and Nordstrom. They all feature perfectly tailored garments for the petite frame and I was so pleased with the pieces I found.

I adore this cowl neck blouse. It is lightweight and simplistic but the neckline provides a little extra detail to take it from boring to sophisticated. I paired it with these Loft pants. These pants are more suited to cooler temperatures and will likely be a better pick for fall and winter. I paired them with a simple pair of black pumps.

This is a perfect spring and summer work look featuring pale colors and lightweight fabrics. The chiffon dot blouse from Nordstrom looks great tucked and loose. These purple multi pants add a bit of color without being too much. I paired them with these incredibly comfortable block heel prints with a subtle snakeskin print that adds a touch of fun!

How fun is the pop of color in this top? I first spotted this print in a dress which I adored but thought was a bit too much. As a top, it's just the right amount of color. I paired this floral poppy blouse with these super classy wide leg pants. These are high waisted and wide leg and very flattering. I paired these with a pair of nude Marc Fisher heels I picked up off of Poshmark.

A navy trouser is a must in your work wear capsule. They are so versatile and a bit less formal than a black pant. These are a super stretchy incredibly comfortable pair of pants from Nic and Zoe a brand carried at Nordstrom. They have an elastic waist and pockets! This dainty floral pink shell is simple and feminine. The back of this top is longer and pleated so it looks equally cute untucked.

Just because you are going to work, doesn't mean you can't incorporate trends. The puff sleeve and square neck trends are ones I adore and this top incorporates them beautifully. I love the neutral stripes and the smocked back as well. I paired these with these thicker high waist ankle pants that have a great cuff that adds a fun detail. I paired them with my snakeskin slingbacks from Madewell.

Have you noticed a trend with the pink? I love keeping business looks a bit feminine. These wide leg pants are as comfortable as pajamas but look super chic. They are elastic waist and wide leg with a cute seam down the front of the legs. I paired this with a short sleeve sweater tee that is as soft as cashmere and will be a year round staple.

These lilac pants are a lightweight summer pant perfect for the office. They are slightly cropped making them a bit less formal. I paired them with this pretty floral top with flutter sleeves from Loft.

I hope these looks inspire you to add some beautiful new pieces to your work wear capsule for the summer!

For sizing reference I am 5'2" and about 125 pounds.
